Saving Lives In Chatham County, Inc. ("SLICC") is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity incorporated in the State of Georgia. We exist to stop the needless death and disability that occurs just because not enough people know how to recornize and treat a cardiac arrest or a stroke.
In the U.S.A. about one in twenty cardiac arrest victims live long enough to get out of the hospital with their major brain functions intact. The Phoenix Airport has for ten years averaged a survival rate of fifteen out of twenty. The difference is attributable to immediate bystander CPR and the ready availability of public-access Automatic External Defibrilators ("AEDs").
Our CPR in the Schools program is without charge, and that is the largest segment of our activity, by far. We support the program through donations and grants. We are 100% volunteer staffed.
